After six years of hard work, prosperous achievements, and steadfast dedication at the region's leading (and 100% local) hunger-relief organization, I was offered an amazing opportunity to expand my role in the communications department by becoming the Food Bank's first-ever Communications & Marketing Manager. In this new role, although my day-to-day responsibilities remain relatively the same, I now oversee our department's intern program while developing fresh ideas and nurturing existing ones to better help our organization bridge the gap between our volunteers, donors, and other valued stakeholders and further strengthen the connection to our mission. Listed below are some of my additional responsibilities.- Manages in-house email marketing plans for Food Bank internal and external communications deploying information to more than 500 nonprofit partners and more than 70,000 stakeholders and donors - Devises strategies on how to ethically grow the number of subscribers and stategize then implement improvements to maintain transparency and drive engagement- Identifies opportunities to drive storytelling around the Food Bank’s brand with stories from the perspectives of our clients, donors and volunteers using blogs, videos and newsletters- Collaborates with the Food Bank’s CEO and other organizational leaders to construct dozens of PowerPoint presentations used to educate stakeholders and cultivate future support- Assists in the coordination of media appearances for an assortment of events, food drives, and campaigns- Provides support to the events team with the planning, marketing and execution of major fundraising events including the biennial Hunger Conference, San Diego Blues Festival, San Diego Run for the Hungry 5K & 10K and the Chefs, Cork & Craft Gala among others- Manages the Communications Department’s internship program

Currently, I work full-time at the San Diego Food Bank under the supervision of the Food Bank's VP of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs. I am responsible for the ongoing management and growth of all web-based communications, as well as assisting my supervisor with the Food Bank's internal and external communications, media relations, government relations, brand management and marketing strategies in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment on a two-person team. Here is an overview of what I am responsible for on a daily basis: • Manages and creates daily content for all of the Food Bank's social media platforms including our key accounts: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram• Develops and executes monthly plans for social-media strategy to increase the number of followers and while following best practices guidelines and updating the content calendar weekly.• Films and edits video that is used for integrated marketing purposes to help promote major campaigns, events and fundraisers including Hunger Awareness Month, our annual Chefs, Cork & Craft Gala and San Diego Run for the Hungry• Coordinates with varying departments to gather data that is then compiled into cohesive legislative packets highlighting the hunger-relief efforts of the Food Bank• Manage the Food Bank's website and its content• Design flyers for hunger-relief programs, events, etc. that reflect the Food Bank’s corporate branding template• Design graphics for social media platforms and website using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator• Compile and calculate campaign media values at the end of each major fundraising and food drive campaign and present it in a report to share with campaign supporters and sponsors

After I wrapped up my two-semester internship at FOX 5 San Diego, I was asked to officially become part of the team as a part-time news writer. During my time as a part-time news writer at FOX 5 San Diego, I was responsible for writing and researching news content including breaking news, reviewing and selecting sound bites and assisting each news producer with a variety of tasks.- RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS -- Wrote and researched news content for the evening and weekend broadcasts- Worked closely with each show's producer to ensure all content was broadcast-ready, even in high-pressure, "Breaking News" circumstances- Pitched at least one news story idea per week to reporters and producers- Ran the prompter for anchors during news shows and promos- Routinely posted on personal social media platforms promoting breaking news and broadcasts
