As a member of ATD's K-12 Partnerships Team, I work closely with Gateway to College program partners in New England. At the intersection of K-12 and post-secondary education, my work is to support communities as they create more equitable pathways to postsecondary success for historically marginalized students. I coach program leaders and provide training in identity-based motivation, holistic student support, data-informed decision making, K-12 landscape analysis, and work-based learning. I serve as the Co-Chair of ATD's internal Culture and Equity Committee.

Gateway To College National Network

New England

Gateway to College National Network (GtCNN) was a Portland, Oregon-based education nonprofit organization with partner programs in 20 states. GtCNN replicates and supports programs on college campuses across the country serving out-of-school and off-track youth as well as under-prepared college students. Founded at Portland Community College, the Gateway to College program now operates at 35 colleges in partnership with over 100 school districts. Some of the country's strongest Gateway to College programs are operating here in Massachusetts at Mount Wachusett Community College, Holyoke Community College, Quinsigamond Community College, Bristol Community College, and Springfield Technical College. GtCNN merged with Achieving the Dream in 2019.

During my tenure at Sizer School, I led a team of educators that turned around the academic and operational performance of the school. Chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in May 2001, the school opened its doors to 235 students in grades seven to nine in September 2002. In June 2006 North Central Charter Essential School graduated its first full class of graduates with 95%+ of these students heading to college or post-secondary programs. After receiving conditions from the Massachusetts Board of Education during the five-year charter renewal process in 2007, in 2012 the school became a level one school and achieved some of the highest student growth scores in Math and ELA on the Massachusett Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS). In 2014 North Central Charter School became Sizer School, in honor of Ted Sizer, founder of essential schools. The school accepted the gift of a brand new 60,000 sq ft. state-of-the-art school building in Fitchburg in 2014.Serving students from 7th through 12th grade, the school continues to thrive, is fully enrolled serving students from thirty cities and towns in central Massachusetts. Sizer School is a public school where students are known personally, challenged intellectually, and participate actively. Guided by its commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, the school seeks to send graduates into the world who THINK for themselves, CARE about others, and ACT creatively and responsibly.
