Experienced leader who wakes up every morning excited to solve complex business problems with the newest technology. My purpose is to ensure people who look like me get access to step change wealth generating alternative investments like private equity, venture capital, commercial real estate, private credit and more. This is the hill I’m prepared to die on. Stephanie Dorsey started her career as a medical malpractice defense attorney for a mid-sized law firm in Baltimore, MD. She represented hospitals, nursing homes and doctors in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas. After two years of practice, she realized that she was more interested in how her clients operated rather than resolving the legal issues that they faced. To test this theory, she left the law and joined the Peace Corps to become a small business volunteer. While in Ecuador, she taught Afro-Ecuadorians micro-finance and started three community banks with Afro-Ecuadorian women’s groups.When Stephanie completed her 2 year assignment with the Peace Corps, she pursued her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. After business school, Stephanie joined ING Direct, the country’s largest online bank at that time. She stayed on through Capital One’s acquisition of ING Direct and found a passion for technology and product management. In November 2021, she was recruited to take on a new challenge as the Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Metric Collective, the number one lead generation portal in franchising. When deciding what to do next, Stephanie focused on finding a solution to a problem that hit close to home. She founded Margins Capital so that people like her, who have historically been excluded from the alternative investment ecosystem, could have access to investing in alternatives.After experiencing transformative coaching as an executive, she decided to add coaching to her toolkit to help other leaders become the most authentic and resourceful versions of themselves. Margins Capital currently offers leadership and executive coaching to its portfolio companies.
