I am originally from Houston, Texas and attended Texas A&M University where I obtained my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. While pursuing my engineering degree, I worked at both Chevron Texaco Pipeline Company and General Motors. I was also actively involved in the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, the Society for Women Engineers, and the Society of Automotive Engineers and Texas A&M Formula SAE team, serving as secretary, vice president, and president. After graduation, I decided to broaden my experiences in Michigan. I worked at General Motors as a powertrain engineer. While at GM, I began attending law school and business school at Wayne State University, where I obtained both a law degree and an MBA in 2012. About half way through law school, I transitioned into working as a full-time patent clerk at Harness IP (formerly Harness, Dickey & Pierce). In October 2016, I moved from the Troy, MI law office of Harness to the Frisco, TX law office. At Harness, I sat on the Diversity Committee and was very active in promoting IP law within the community and in Texas A&M's department of engineering. I also organized the AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking event for the DFW and North Texas area for 4 years. In April 2022 I began a new adventure as Intellectual Property Counsel for Terumo BCT, Inc. Terumo BCT is a global leader in blood management, blood safety, therapeutic apheresis, cell therapy and cell collections. We make medical devices and related products that are used to collect, separate, manufacture and process various components of blood cells. With our innovative technologies and service offerings, we touch a patient’s life every second of every day. I am proud to be a part of a company that makes a difference. In January 2023, I transitioned to lead the IP team at Terumo BCT and am responsible for the global intellectual property strategy and management, among other responsibilities.I have two sons, 11 and 7, three dogs, rabbits, and chickens, but at times I have also had horses and cats. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, fishing, and playing golf whenever possible. I volunteer with the Texas State Fair Livestock Committee, help my kids with their FFA (lamb and goat) and 4H (rabbits and chickens) projects, and coach my kids' basketball teams and baseball teams. I am also on the public relations committee for the State Bar of Texas.
