In this role, I facilitate science courses that enhances engagement and real-world application for nearly 150 students (including 20 SPED students) per academic year. I launched the AP (advanced placement) Environmental Science program and serve as the faculty advisor for the Environmental Club. In that role, I oversee club operations, budgeting, and supplementary campus events, including fundraisers. ✓ Led students to achieve the highest district AP test scores (environment science), with above average state and global scores for 2 consecutive years (2021, 2022). ✓ Improved educator success by coaching 3 new teachers on department processes, campus culture, and the learning management system.

The goal of the Louis Stokes Regional NSF International Center of Excellence (LSAMP-NICE) is to create a collaborative framework for Lewis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation institutions to leverage resources, establish partnership and support from dozens of other NSF programs and countries. This year teachers were given the opportunity to spend time in French classrooms and contribute to Check Your Smile software. The software allows French graduate students to practice and improve their English in preparation for international networking and study.

In this role, I inherited leadership of the AP Biology program, coordinating procurement, material selection, and course revitalization. This included redevelopment of the AP biology course with a hands-on lab component. I increase Biology II course enrollment after revamping the class in rigor and practicality.✓ Elevated student performance by implementing new creative formative assessments. ✓ Played instrumental role in advancing post-graduation preparedness through mentorship, social justice programming, community service opportunities, and support during the college application processes.

Here I implemented creative instructional strategies for 125 honors and on-level biology students per year. I also co-led a district-wide initiative to reshape the biology course with 7 faculty members in 2010. I also served as a key advocate for 25 SPED students annually and developed close relationships with case managers and educational support staff to meet unique student needs. ✓ Served as a sponsor and committee member for the Young Ladies of Positive Action (YPLA) group, a preventative program that reduced dropout rates over 2 years (2009-2011). ✓ Named Freshman Academy member at Jersey Village HS and aided in reducing the achievement gap for 9th grade participants by strengthening student-teacher relationships through a small learning community.
