I am passionate about creating opportunities and confidence for students who feel voiceless. My experience as an HBCU graduate in the science world opened my eyes to how few women and minority STEM leaders there are. After completing my master’s degree in cancer biology, I pivoted to a career in education, enabling me to teach, mentor, and advocate for our leaders of tomorrow. With 10+ years of experience as a STEM teacher, I offer rigorous yet practical opportunities for students to prepare for the “real world” by driving educational, professional, and leadership development opportunities. Additionally, I direct a nationally recognized AP science program at Klein ISD and support students during graduation, college, and career development processes. ► CAREER HIGHLIGHTS✓ Launched an advanced placement (AP) environmental science program, leading students to receive the highest AP test scores in the district in 2019 and 2020.✓ Steered the rapid transition from an in-person to virtual to hybrid learning model at the height of COVID-19. ✓ Reduced the dropout rate within 2 years, serving as the Young Ladies of Positive Action (YPLA) faculty sponsor at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. ✓ Published in “Great Thinking Thursday,” the Spring ’21 academic newsletter for gifted learners.Throughout my tenure, I have enjoyed mentoring underserved student populations, including Black, first-generation, economically disadvantaged, and special education students.
