As the Senior Director of Special Projects, I oversee the strategic growth, development, and daily operations of the Special Projects Group (SPG), Maintenance, and Service Departments. SPG is a dedicated team focused on executing small projects with the same excellence as large projects – providing unmatched quality, attention to detail, proactiveness and efficiency. This internship allowed me to learn the many facets of event planning. Duties included writing media pitches, attending planning meetings with rental clients, working with the JSMA events team to strategize event flow, helping with room set-up and tear down, overseeing catering event plans, and attending events to provide customer service.

As the Event Planning Intern, I served on the Eugene Special Olympics committee comprised of Special Olympics coaches, community leaders and local business owners. Aside from the planning aspects, I was also responsible for boosting attendance through community relations.

I was responsible for creating a positive customer experience in the store through knowing, loving, and being passionate about the brand and the Gap legacy. I was responsible for opening and closing procedures, the cash register, opening lines of credit, and taking care of the customers and their needs.

I was responsible for planning two week-long events to increase the membership in our chapter. I managed a $18,000 budget and the recruitment committee. Throughout my time in this position, I also planned and executed multiple training workshops.
