In January of 2024, I retired from the practice of law. I’m currently living my life by a compass, as opposed to a clock. My passion for animal welfare drove me to serve as the current Chairman of the Board of Friends of Metro Animal Services (FOMAS), which is the sole fundraising entity for Louisville Metro Animal Services (MAS) in Louisville, Kentucky. FOMAS provides funds that make it possible for the shelter to go above and beyond, and to offer services that exceed what LMAS' government budget allows. FOMAS also serves as an ambassador for public education and community-wide collaboration.Prior to retirement, I practiced in intellectual property law at Faegre Drinker, with a deep focus in trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, licensing and enforcement. I managed global trademark portfolios — from advising clients on brand choices and strategies to filing and prosecuting trademark applications worldwide. I have a solid background in assisting clients with developing and implementing anti-counterfeiting strategies and also counseled clients on domain name clearance, registration and disputes. My experience included assisting clients with e-commerce and Internet issues — from advising on regulations to examining both traditional and online marketing strategies.
