About Stephanie Jeselson

I am a recent graduate of UNC Chapel Hill getting my post-baccalaureate in Peace and Conflict Studies at UNC Greensboro. While most of my previous experience involves international conflict and insurgencies, I am currently focusing on domestic radicalization and extremism. My professors, supervisors, and peers have described me as incredibly passionate, diligent, intrinsically-motivated, and adaptable. I have extensive research and data analysis experience through my job as a research assistant with the UNC Department of Public Policy and my current internship at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. I also have customer service experience from working as a banquet server at the Carolina Inn in addition to organizing and conducting events for the Center for the Middle East and Islamic Studies at UNC. I ultimately hope to work either in local communities or with the Federal Government to intercept and interrupt potential domestic extremist plots. I believe working as a community organizer to disengage radicals and encourage integration reaps longer-term rewards, while working with the government would help address more immediate threats to national security.
