With a background in both business support and non-profit administration, I am a professional who understands that communities can only develop and transform through guidance of business, cultural programs, wellness, government, and civic engagement. I am dedicated to developing the connection of education, sense of place, and well being to economic growth. I came to the Small Business Development Center from Lynchburg’s Virginia Main Street Program where I developed and directed marketing and events for Downtown Lynchburg, including the James River Batteau Festival, Friday Cheers and Get! Downtown. Prior to that, I worked at the Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Chamber of Commerce as the membership and communications coordinator. In Blowing Rock, I worked with artists and other small businesses. I have wide experience in social media marketing, event planning, and heritage and cultural attraction development. I hold a Master’s degree in Appalachian Studies and have special expertise in rural development, and transitional economies.
