Oversee and manage all activities and initiatives within the Gynecologic Cancer Initiative, a province wide research initiative with the mission to accelerate transformative research and translational practice on prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship of gynecologic cancers. Our vision is to reduce the incidence, death, and suffering of these cancers by 50% by 2034. This is an interdisciplinary partnership across multiple institutions including the University of British Columbia, BC Cancer, Vancouver General Hospital, BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, BC Cancer Foundation, VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation and BC Women's Health Foundation.

As the Clinical Research Assistant, I managed and coordinated OvCARE’s clinical research projects by managing ethics, creating standard operating procedures, and coordinating study workflows. I identified new process improvement initiatives and expanded the Gynecologic Cancer Tissue Bank to collect specimen from patients across the province. I also mentored undergraduate co-op students in various domains of clinical research and database management.

As the Biobanking Clinical Undergraduate Research Assistant at OvCARE, the Ovarian Cancer Research Group at the BC Cancer Agency, I consented gynecologic cancer patients to various clinical studies and the Gynecologic Cancer Tissue Bank, a registry of 9000+ patients. I carefully explainined the research protocol and conducted follow-up check-ins during patients’ visits to the clinic. I also worked to enhance the existing database of research participants on OpenSpecimen to ensure accurate data and consistent consent status to inform scientific researchers.

Work with a team of other students to develop and promote a culture of social entrepreneurship at SFU. I created outreach and promotional material for SFU Innovates to engage with students to encourage social entrepreneurship and leadership within the SFU community. I also researched and analyzde programs at other universities around the world to understand key learning opportunities for SFU to implement and improve their programming. One of our key deliverables was an engagement recommendation report to SFU’s Beedie School of Business for student engagement and program retention
