• Review new business submissions in order to determine insurability based on carrier guidelines and standards.• Responsible for managing and growing multiple specialty programs • Handle small to mid-market accounts ranging from $25k - $300k average premium• Perform analysis of ACORD applications, supplemental applications, loss runs, financial documents, website and other necessary documents to underwrite risks.• Prepare quotations for agents• Diagnose, demonstrate and explain features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies• Profitably grow existing broker relationship while also generating new partnerships• Work closely with carrier partner, claims and risk management partners to share knowledge and insights to protect and build a better program.• Manage day to day program functions and special projects as required• Facilitate the training of the junior underwriters about underwriting policies and strategies to improve product quality on our team

•Select and price renewal accounts matching our underwriting strategy and growth initiatives•Service accounts on broker-based business•Examine submissions and contact necessary broker to request additional information for a complete submission or to get in depth underwriting information•Responsible for following contract, property and insurance laws, as well as file documentation and maintaining underwriting worksheets, rating methodology, quote letters, as well as broker and insured communications•Make sure that all policy requirement are fulfilled, such as completion of forms, receipt of all underwriting documentation

•Responsible for commercial multi-line rating, endorsements, and issuance of policies•Reviewed Motor Vehicle Reports, Dun & Bradstreet reports, and loss runs in order to compile and summarize pertinent information for underwriting worksheets•Trained new employees on all aspects of the job•Assisted underwriters with follow-ups for additional information or items needed to complete their underwriting file.
