1) Advising Clients on labour relation issues to ensure compliance and consistency in application throughout Algoma while minimizing both cost and risk exposure and disruption to operations. (2) Assisting in facilitating positive labour relations between the Company and Unions. This involves providing counsel to Managers, and Supervisors on issues related to the grievance process and its administration, providing recommendations to preempt grievances, assist with the preparation of arbitration cases.(3) Counseling and assisting Clients on issues that impact culture. This includes providing training and interpretation on matters related to the application of legislation such as the Employment Standards Act and the Human Rights Code, Company policies and procedures, and the Employees Conduct Rules. (4) Providing coaching and guidance on matters related to conflict resolution, attendance management, goal setting and performance management, succession planning and talent management, organizational change and discipline.(5) Conducting investigations, summarize findings and recommend and assist with implementing solutions. (6) Lead recruitment and onboarding efforts to source quality individuals, in accordance with procedures and client requirements and within the framework of CBA’s and employment legislations, to support Algoma’s short, medium and long-term needs. (7) Leading projects in the areas of job design, organizational structure, lines of sequence, ladders, scheduling, etc. in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement to ensure consistent application and compliance throughout Algoma.(8) Leading special projects such as improving Human Resources Service Management applications and pandemic protocols/COVID-19 management.
