I work with indie authors and provide high quality work in a timely manner. I check each manuscript for superfluous phrasing, telling vs. showing, spelling, grammar, punctuation, confused words, and plot and character inconsistencies, hyphenation, numerals, and dialogue tag issues.

I am a part of the pool of #KidLit copyeditors for the Viking, Putnam, and Philomel imprints at Penguin Young Readers.

I use The Chicago Manual of Style for two rounds of editing and then one proofreading per manuscript. I also perform sensitivity readings for this multi-genre publisher that mostly publishes romance novels.

In this six-month internship, I evaluated submissions and manuscripts and wrote reader’s reports, work with the publicity team to write pitch letters, became familiar with publishing retailers, and wrote up mock evaluations of proposals with team feedback. My reports have resulted in the acquisition of The Chocolatier’s Dying Wish and Southern Doc.

I submit book reviews to IndieReader, one of the original book review services for small press, hybrid and self-published authors.

Leschenault Press is an independent publisher based in Western Australia, but representing authors from all over the world. I provided thorough copyedits of their manuscripts at their imprint, Book Reality.

I worked as an editor for Ideapress Publishing, which was founded by best-selling author Rohit Bhargava and his wife Chhavi Arya to offer a more personalized experience for authors. I edited various manuscripts, including reports.

I proofread and edited books that focus on history, architecture, fine arts, gardening, memoir, and cookbooks. These titles ranged from general interest to books that are authoritative, with comprehensive references on distinct fields of White House study.

I provided editorial support for select fiction projects and worked on upcoming titles with focus on structural and line editing, copy writing, providing reader reports, and otherwise supporting the fiction program. I performed structural and line editing of fiction titles, drafted editorial memos, jacket and cover copy, and promotional copy, prepare.

I contributed the poem "Looney Lovers" and the following essays to this 9-issue magazine about philosophy, literature, art history and mythology: "Giving Chocolate Mabbie a Chance," "Modern White Medea," "Love Disconnection: Sunglasses as Window into the Heart in Chungking Express," "Putting the Animation into Archives," and "Of Fair Maids and Rich Men."

This program will diversify the talent pool of existing editors, and here I received hands-on experience in line-editing, copy-editing, and developmental editing. I joined Tessera Editorial to find authors and publishers in the community who would give me a chance to use my newly learned skills.
