I organised the first ever Evidence Week in the UK parliament in 2018 and secured venues, partners and content for the second in summer 2019. Responding to an open call for ideas, through a public presentation in parliament I persuaded the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee to launch its inquiry into the use of algorithms in decision-making throughout society. I led a review of 12 UK central government departments’ transparency around the use of evidence in policy and efforts to establish a central register of government-commissioned research.
