Indiana University School of Medicine postdoctoral fellow working in Bloomington, IN in the lab of Dr. Pete Hollenhorst. I am currently examining the interaction between ETS transcription factors and mutant p53 in the context of prostate cancer and breast cancer.

Dissertation work examined the role of phosphoserine aminotransferase 1 (PSAT1) in theprogression of breast cancer in both estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) and triple negative (TN) incontext of endocrine resistance and metastasis, respectively.- Obtained extensive experience with immortalized cell culture techniques includinggeneration of stable cell lines and transfections to knockdown and/or overexpress proteins- Constructed the overexpression plasmids used for stable cell line generation andperformed numerous assays to determine mRNA and protein levels in various cell linesincluding: qPCR to determine mRNA levels, western blotting to confirm protein levels,and co-immunoprecipitation assays to determine binding partners- Mastered multiple in vitro assays to analyze metastatic capabilities and determine responseto endocrine therapies such as: invasion and migration assays, scratch assays, proliferationstudies, anchorage independent growth assays, and fluro-reporter blue assays- Executed an in vivo model of metastasis with tail-vein injection studies to determine therole of PSAT1 in metastasis

-Founding member of the team-Served as liaison between leadership team and School of Science staff-Established team structure and helped establish selection process-Planned recruitment events, facilitated and participated in panel discussions, led tours, plannedand worked phone campaigns, recruited and trained student volunteers, and supervised teamevaluations-Efforts contributed to 4% increase in beginning freshmen science majors the first year, followedby a 37% increase the second year (Fall 2013)

Pancreatic cancer research focused on determining the chemotherapeutic and/or radiosensitizingeffect of dimethylaminoparthenolide (a natural product derivative) and dichloracetic acid (acurrent clinical drug) on the cancer cell population in hopes to increase sensitivity of lower dosesof radiation.-Gained cell culture experience utilizing the MIA PaCa-2 and BxPc-3 cell lines-Mastered general lab activities such as: sterile technique, cell plating procedures, colonycounting, and data analysis-Utilized multiple different experiments such as: growth curve, split-dose damage repair, flowcytometry, lactate and glucose production assays, and colony formation assays
