The Hunt Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit organization affiliated with the Duke Sanford School of Public Policy that works to ensure that state policymakers have a keen understanding of the major education issues, an astute political instinct, and a playbook of transformative state- and local-level efforts that are exemplars of what public education can and should look like for every child. • Attained proficiency of key policy issues, challenges, and data sources along the P-20 education continuum.• Managed partnerships and engagement with policymakers, including governors, state legislators, and other high-level elected state leaders, offering support around their education policies. • Monitored and evaluated education policy issues to inform team strategy and program activity.• Planned and facilitated 20+ education policy programs and site visits for policymakers, governors’ offices, and education leaders across the U.S.• Planned and executed the NC Holshouser Legislators Retreat (2017, 2018), NC Policy Discussion Dinner Series (2017), VA Education Summit (2017, 2018), VA Policy Discussion Dinner Series (2018), and WV Legislators’ Forum (2017), including communication to policymakers and resource experts, logistical support, and on-site management. • Managed bi-weekly webinar engaging education policy experts from 146 partner organizations for audiences of policymakers and education leaders on issues such as equity, instructional leadership, and assessments.• Collaborated with NCSL, ECS, and CCSSO to lead a two-part ESSA state plan convening with 10 state teams of legislators, chiefs, and governors’ policy advisors.• Managed relationships with partners and stakeholders and represented HI at 20+ external events, including state-level conferences and local-level meetings.
