Completed Chemical Engineering PhD in the Jaramillo group researching the electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to fuels and chemicals.Research focused on understanding the various factors that impact the reaction efficiency and selectivity when using copper catalysts. This work has led to key insights that will help guide the continued development of catalyst materials and reactor systems that can effectively recycle carbon emissions into useful products. Throughout her PhD, Stephanie immersed herself in the rich, interdisciplinary energy ecosystem at Stanford in order to learn how to critically evaluate clean energy technologies and link science to policy, research to practical application, and innovation to scale-up.

Conducted Membrane Processes Research under Dr. Andrew Zydney• Primary focus of the research was to explore the behavior of ultrafiltration processes at very high protein concentrations and to determine the mechanisms controlling the filtrate flux• Performed osmotic pressure measurements to evaluate the effect of protein–protein interactions on the thermodynamic properties of highly concentrated protein solutions• Conducted tangential flow filtration (TFF) experiments to study the effect of feed flow rates, bulk protein concentration, and solution conditions on the ultrafiltration behavior• Compared results with existing mathematical models, and used the insights to develop improved models as needed
