About Stephanie Padilla
Collaboration with all types of designers and creatives in the country and with local and international design organizations and experts such as ASEAN-Japan Centre, Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), and The Index Project (2017). More than a thousand design and creative students, professionals, and MSMEs have benefitted from the DCDP Training and Projects and were able to apply their learnings to their own practice. When the pandemic hit, our team managed the program innovation and helped in the transitioning of DCDP Trainings to online platforms to be able to provide the much-needed capacity-building for creatives affected by the impacts of the pandemic. One of the programs is the Business of Design, a workshop series aimed at guiding creatives in establishing and managing a successful freelance career, which we are implementing in its 3rd year.Currently maintaing partnerships and pursuing potential collaborations in designing programs that will address the needs of designers and creatives, professional and non-professionals, in designing sustainable products and services for the future.

Along with 17 other #youngdesigners from 13 countries, we will work with #WDO to co-design the roadmap that will contribute to the organizations' long-term objectives for this initiative and its impact on the design community. The programme is aligned with WDO’s mission of design for a better world, and its objectives to promote the use of design to help meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

I started out as a Design Trainee in the Design Center of the Philippines from 2012 to 2013. During the training, I learned the Design Practice beyond the four walls of a Technical University. I experienced raw materials processing, apprenticeship with local designers, and setting up an exhibition in Manila FAME, Philippines’ premier trade fair for design. Design Center then hired me in 2014 to work on a special project called Bamboo Showcase, where I was able to work with various local manufacturers and produced sustainable bamboo products. These were later on exhibited in Design Center, and were further developed and used in the board room and lobby of PhilExport, an umbrella organization for Philippine Exporters. From 2014-2015, I have travelled to different Regions in the Philippines to service craft-based MSMEs and have worked with inventors for product development.
