Before I "went pro" as a singer, back in the 1980s, I was in grad school at UT Austin, studying to be a psychotherapist and singing primarily for the pleasure of it. Now, as I slowly age out of the singing biz, I've returned to the study and practice of psychotherapy, and finding it very rich and rewarding. When I returned to graduate study in 2017, I had no idea that I'd be doing my internship in the middle of a global pandemic, and that the U.S. would find itself in a mental health crisis that would lead to the destigmatization of mental health! Talk about a mixed blessing......
