Stephanie Schonewald is a Partner at Choate Hall & Stewart LLP, where she is a member of the Intellectual Property group. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center.Dr. Schonewald helps academic and commercial clients develop strategic patent portfolios in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologics, and medical device fields. Her experience includes patent drafting and prosecution, client counseling, licensing, patent infringement, and validity opinions. Dr. Schonewald has also assisted in the litigation of patent infringement actions, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and medical devices.Dr. Schonewald’s doctoral research focused on protein synthesis in eukaryotes initiated by internal ribosomal entry sites. She is experienced in methods including cloning, nucleic acid synthesis and purification, expression of proteins, and cell culture.Prior to joining Choate, Dr. Schonewald was an associate in the Washington, DC office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
