I reached out to County officials to make sure their needs were being met during the COVID19 pandemic. Simultaneously, I was able to collaborate towards creating a Pandemic Food Box. - Traveled with the Disaster Incident Research Team from the Disaster Risk Policy to perform field research on the Farm Source in Johnstown, Jamaica, to create an emergency management plan. - Developed a collection of data by participating in interviews with founding members of the Source Farm and their partnered local farmers. This allowed us to research and analyze a hazard assessment approach to produce a more accurate plan to lower the probability of vulnerability within the area. - Elaborated a plan to train locals with better mitigation strategies to reduce losses from the present hazards identified and the vulnerability assessment plan for the Jamaica Project of 2020.

As an intern at the Florida House Coalition, I assisted the staff in providing support for new initiatives, providing new information, and providing administrative assistance on affordable housing and related issues. I also collaborated with the Technical Advisor, and Disaster Resilience and Recovery Director with assistance in researching the Central Florida Post Hurricane Housing Action Plan Report of 2019 and the relationship between climate migration.

As an intern at the IRC, I supported the education department in welcoming newly arrived refugees and providing them with the tools for social and legal integration into the U.S. I fully and independently taught the Orientation and Civics Program, to assist newly-arrived refugee clients in a multi-level and culturally diverse ESL classroom to gain English literacy and comprehension skills and to understand community resources and expectations for the resettlement period. I also aided as a new roots intern where I focused on bringing refugees together to build connections with their new homes through nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and community gardening.Additionally, I supported the employment caseworkers to research employers and assist clients with job training and job applications, and assist clients in advancing their careers after resettlement with career counseling, enrollment in post-secondary and recertification programs.The Department of Education also awarded me Intern of the Month!
