New York's Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs) created a competitive program known as the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP). It is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). As an AGEP fellow, I am eligible to receive additional pedagogy training, mentorship, postdoctoral training and have the opportunity to teach at several PUIs. So far, I have taught engineering courses at Suffolk County Community College and an Introduction to Research course at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Farmingdale.

-Served as a Teaching Assistant for Chemical Engineering courses-Responsibilities included grading homeworks and tests as well as proctoring exams

I taught the Introduction to Research course as part of Stony Brook University's highly competitive Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Summer Program. I taught nine undergraduates how to read scientific papers and prepare and present scientific presentations and posters. The course ended with a symposium where the students presented their summer research to faculty, staff, and other students.

Stony Brook University's Center for Inclusive Education (CIE) Department created a Community of Student Mentors (CSM) program. Under this program, underrepresented senior graduate students can mentor incoming graduate students. I mentor one graduate student.

The Stony Brook University PhD Career Ladder Program (PCLP) is a peer-led career mentoringprogram for grad students and postdocs pursuing careers inside and outside academia.As a PCLP Junior Leader, I assisted the PCLP Senior Leader (i.e., instructor) in teaching each class, which involved guiding participants “up the ladder” of career exploration, from self-assessment to career research and informational interviewing to skill-building and resume crafting.

-Creating a novel methanation catalyst for the production of synthetic methane (i.e., renewable natural gas or RNG) for power-to-gas (P2G) technology-Synthesizing a catalyst for the production of synthesis gas (i.e., syngas) from biogas

I completed GEM's i4 I-Corps training in Steve Blank’s Customer Discovery framework and Alexander Osterwald’s Business Model Generation, methods used by the National Science Foundation (NSF).I conducted interviews with professionals in the renewable natural gas market to understand how my product, a nano methanation catalyst, connects to real-world needs.I worked towards finding product-market fit to identify valuable product opportunities for the nano methanation catalyst I have developed at a laboratory scale.The program aims to streamline participants' entry into the NSF I-Corps program.

-Performed an Independent Engineering monitoring studying involving the construction of an international integrated polyethylene plant-Served as Project Manager for a single-client study on the polyolefins market-Developed an in-depth logistics analysis, which covered the environmental, financial, and technical aspects related to the transportation of urea and ammonia for a large scale fertilizer plant-Carried out a global market analysis for the supply and demand of linear alkyl benzene (LAB), primarily focusing on South America-Carried out extensive fieldwork with polypropylene converters for a potential polypropylene plant in the Americas. The purpose of the fieldwork was to determine the most used grades, applications and regions of high demand in each country-Performed a site assessment evaluation to determine the best location for a commercial Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) plant-Profiled emerging and existing small-scale GTL technologies for the construction of a potential small-scale GTL plant-Developed market and technical analyses for C4 and C5 chemicals (i.e. tetrahydrofuran, adipic acid, nitrile rubber, etc.)-Developed a market outlook for olefins, commodity petrochemicals, oxygenated fuels, biofuels, and refined products on behalf of a tank and terminal company seeking to construct and additional tank terminal-Developed a cost competitiveness model for formaldehyde and formaldehyde resins in Europe on behalf of a potential investor seeking to purchase a formaldehyde resin production company-Engaged with polyolefins experts in South America to understand the market drivers for HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE.
