As a a Peer Facilitator for the IMPACT Curriculum at Massachusetts’s General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, I provide supervision and facilitation of instruction for fellow students. My team includes practicing clinician faculty, as we aid discusssions having to do with inter-professional communication strategies. The students I mentor include people a part of nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, and speech-language pathology programs to receive a priceless benefit: real-life experience.The student simulations range across the lifespan. I facilitate the students in giving comprehensive services, addressing a range of needs stemming from speech and language disorders, stroke, brain injury, behavioral health, and other chronic conditions. The simulations enhance their learning through practice in taking histories, communicating with clients, physical examinations, and more.
