I served as the executive director of Immunize Colorado (IC) from 2012 to 2022. Under my leadership, the organization increased foundation and donation revenues by more than 300% and deepened its policy focus, including spearheading the passage of SB13-222, HB14-1288 and SB20-165, three significant new Colorado laws to increase childhood immunization rates. IC also grew its award-winning outreach campaign by launching VacunalosPorsuBien.com, one of the only comprehensive immunization awareness sites for Spanish speaking parents. During my tenure, IC's social media campaigns grew tremendously including a FaceBook Brand Lift effort that reached 5 million impressions. The Colorado Vaccine Equity Taskforce, launched during the pandemic, became the go-to stakeholder group for strategy and policy-setting on improving COVID-19 vaccine access in Colorado's highly impacted communities. IC was also awarded one of six highly competitive federal grants through HHS' Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health to address improving routine vaccines in communities of color. The expansion of key partnerships with new and existing agencies and businesses raised IC's profile locally and nationally with IC or its programs and activities mentioned in recently in more than 65 news articles, including NPR, The Wall Street Journal and The Denver Post. In 2018, IC became a member of the WHO's highly selective Vaccine Safety Network.Prior to serving as the executive director of Immunize Colorado, I had more than 25 years of experience leading public and community health initiatives including leading all aspects of a $2.5 million statewide effort to promote school health and wellness. I also managed school-based health centers and community clinics throughout Colorado providing behavioral health, oral health and primary care services to medically underserved children and youth. I additionally served as a public health policy expert at the National Conference of State Legislatures providing testimony and expert content on priority public health issues to state lawmakers across the country. I served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care and an At-Large Board Member for the Colorado Public Health Association. I also served as a founding board member of Academy 360, a public charter school with a core focus on student wellness and health promotion. I received the Colorado Public Health Champion Award in 2015.
