Rec Room Arts is a professional non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to presenting and developing live performance of every discipline. In our short history, we have produced hundreds of shows, cultivated a creative home for downtown Houston, and garnered the support of local businesses and cultural institutions. Our passion is to create epic stories in small spaces. Whether those stories are told through theatre, music, dance, opera, or comedy, we work to make them unique and awe inspiring. We are advocates for new work and innovative artists. We believe that in order for our city to be truly progressive and world-class, it must create and participate in progressive art. We work everyday to be part of that progression.We produce full seasons of performances, support a yearly artist residency program, and host community events. We nurture established and developing artists from our community and beyond by providing a space to present new work that challenges the definition of art and performance in modern America. Head of acting program including instruction and curriculum, grades 9 – 12.Directed departmental productions, recitals & showcases.Provided coaching for college auditions and NFAA YoungArts, a national competition selecting 20 seniors out of 4,000 applicants; in 2007, HSPVA broke all time records with 4 ARTS winners in one year.
