A "Grade Checker" utilizes the blueprint for the project and a set of points to work from, which are established by the Surveyors. From those points we stake out the project, generally in sections. These stakes help guide the equipment operators as to placement, "embankment", or removal, "excavation", of materials.

A Grade Checker is a trained in measurements and mathematics. We provide cues to the equipment operators while performing excavation, or removal, and embankment, or the adding of materials. Measurements involve material quantities, slopes, distance, depth, height, etc. Combining these with math to interpret a set of blue prints into a working and eventually completed project is the goal. Whether building a road or highway, a building pad upon which a building will be constructed, or an entire office park including ponds, the skills utilized remain the same; Finish the project to the specifications required.
