I am a bi-lingual educator, teacher, leader, technologist, innovator, and supporter of children, youth and adults. I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelors degree in Education. I have significant leadership experience, and my particular strengths lie in a very high level of technology ability, especially with Educational Technology (EdTech), supporting diverse learners (children and adults, bilingual, unhoused, migrant, BIPOC, ELL, LGBTQIA+, etc), and also in developing and organizing projects, programs, events, and systems. I have almost two decades of experience in education, including curriculum, classroom instruction, Adult Education, Special Education (SpEd), Talented and Gifted, 21st Century Grant/After School Programs, Summer School Programs, Early Childhood Programs, Title Programs (including Title I-A, I-C, III, and X), etc. I have taught at all levels (PreK-College) and have designed and created numerous programs, including Family University (FamU), Woodburn Summer School for 500 students, After School Club for 1000 students, district-wide meal delivery (to 5000 students), Emergency Childcare Program, etc. I have ran many, many events, including Day of the Child (2500 attendees), numerous conferences (for OACE and OATAG, for example), etc. I fluently speak, read and write in English and Spanish. My diverse background makes me uniquely qualified to handle new and unusual situations, including supporting volunteer outreach activities. I employ a collaborative leadership style which utilizes a hybrid of Transformational, Servant, and Shared Leadership modalities. My leadership attributes often recommend me for other positions as well, consequently, I am Founding President of Young Leaders Program, immediate Past President of the Oregon Association for Talented and Gifted (OATAG), current president of the Oregon Association for Comprehensive Education (OACE), former Director of Oregon State Leadership Academy, and have served on numerous other boards and committees.

As such, I planned and implemented a summer school to serve Woodburn’s migrant population in accordance with federal Migrant Program guidelines. I selected and trained staff to carry out program’s missions and objectives. I also organized efforts between the two campuses to optimize student success, including, (but not limited to) class/recess/lunch/staff scheduling, bussing, addressing special education needs, supply and textbook needs, staff development, etc. In addition, I facilitated transportation, housing, recreation, and other needs for the five bi-national teachers from México who assisted the summer school program. This was a part-time/temporary position concurrent with Assistant Principal.

Assistant PrincipalWoodburn School District Oct 2007 - Jul 2008In October 2007 I was asked to step in for one year to cover a sudden vacancy in the Assistant Principal’s office. I did so knowing the position was due to be cut at the end of the year, but realized it would serve a vital role within the school since the principal was only working half-time at the school (she was assigned half-time at the district office, as well). As AP, I provided leadership and supervision for all licensed and classified staff in all areas of instruction, behavior, curriculum, assessment, scheduling, and evaluation. Duties included: communicate with students, staff, parents, and others regarding issues of discipline, attendance, academic performance, etc.; Assist with recruitment and hiring of new staff members; Provide administrative leadership for meetings and activities; Investigate infractions and impose discipline; Host assemblies and events; Coordinate multiple committees. I actively promoted a positive, caring learning environment, lead school improvement initiatives, interviewed new staff, and supervised all areas of school operation. Other duties as required.
