Reporting to the Area Vice President EMEA with the following key responsibilities across the area:Innovation: Planning and execution of all innovation activities; task force lead for new product launches from early stage commercial product / label development until country roll-out; maintenance of a competitive product portfolio under changing regulatory and market conditions; optimize portfolio to leverage synergies and maximise profits.Business Development: Development of an economy line of Abbott's key brands suitable for middle-class consumers; streamline existing non-core businesses, accelerate successful markets and exit business segments / models that are financially not viable in the long-term; identify new business opportunities across the area / portfolio.Margin and Profitability: In collaboration with division M&P team, develop and implement action plans to increase (gross) profit on country, business segment, channel, brand level. Mepha (2011 acquired by Acino) is a Swiss based pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and markets well-proven and innovative pharmaceuticals in novel drug delivery forms. Responsible for the company’s overall commercial operations and manufacturing sites in the Middle East (and Africa until my relocation to Mepha’s regional office in Dubai), I was leading a team of 150+ employees across 25 key markets generating USD 60M in revenue. My role involved designing and implementing business plans, managing marketing and sales efforts, and driving business development and market expansion strategies. During my tenure, Mepha’s successfully entered, amongst others, Iraq (today’s Acino’s leading market) and further strengthened its position in the GCC, thereby doubling revenue and increasing profitability by 4x.
