My practice focuses on acquiring and preserving intellectual property for large and small entities in all areas of life science, including novel plant varieties and transgenic plants. I assist clients in the procurement of patents through prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign jurisdictions. My work includes litigation matters, including interferences and inter partes review proceedings (IPRs).

o Prosecute 10 patent portfolios.• Draft responses to USPTO Office Actions and foreign correspondence and develop persuasive arguments to address issues to obtain allowed patent claims;• Meet with scientists to discuss technology of inventions disclosures and draft new patent application;• Collaborate with outside counsel and intellectual property licensees to ensure communication of patent prosecution matters;• Manage patent prosecution of all cases within budget.o Complete freedom-to-operate and due diligence evaluations for protection of established intellectual property, potential new technology and acquisitions.• Monitor competitor patent prosecution in the United States and Europe;• Develop arguments for opposition of patent in Europe;• Perform patentability searches and summarized finding of new inventions.o Contribute to the defense of key company patents in U.S. and foreign litigations.• Identify Scientific Advisors and Expert Witnesses;• Monitor court documents and communicate developments to patent litigation team;• Identify and compile relevant documents in preparation of patent litigation.o Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to establish virtual access to laboratory notebooks.
