About Stephanie Ashton- Smith
As the Director of Development and Partnerships for Feed Ontario, I am responsible for revenue generation for the organization and building strategic partnerships to help ensure an Ontario where everyone is food secure. In my former role as the Sr. Director of Partner Success for TRBOT, I was responsible for managing all of the Board's corporate partnerships in addition to leading the overall revenue and retention strategy for the department. As the Director of Corporate Partnerships, my focus was business development for Breakfast Club of Canada, in the Ontario and Atlantic Regions. In my role as the Director of Agency Development for Big Brother Big Sisters of Toronto, I was a member of the Executive Team, responsible for overseeing the pillar of Agency Development. The role was responsible for all revenue generation activities, including events, corporate partnerships and individual giving. From 2014 - 2018, I worked for Habitat for Humanity Canada managing national corporate partnerships to support over 56 local Habitats and over 100 Habitat ReStore locations to increase revenue through diversified channels which helps to reduce Habitat's cost to build.For 10 years prior, I worked in the international development sector creating and building relationships with corporate donors to diversify and increase revenue for Plan Canada, UNICEF and Christian Children's Fund of Canada. By securing both cash and in kind revenue, my work in this area brought in over $100 million in additional revenue in the last 10 years.Relationship management is one of my key strengths - I have fostered and maintained relationships with North America's largest pharmaceutical companies, national manufacturers and retailers, local governments and supported staff globally. I have had the opportunity to travel to over 25 countries around the world, including her personal highlight of attending a Ground Breaking Ceremony for the ALERT hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with Bill Clinton.Prior to working in international development, I worked as a National Account Manager for Retail Sampling Inc. where I created and executed theme based sales promotions for national retailers including Canadian Tire, Wal-mart, Toys R Us and Zellers.After nearly 10 years in sales and marketing, I decided to make a change and went to work in non-profit. My passion allowed me to successfully combine my educational background of international studies with my skills honed from many years of sales and marketing to become one of Canada's leading experts on Gift In Kind donations.
