PAYPAL DATA SERVICES (a PayPal, Inc subsidiary) | 2014-2024Developed the PayPal Account Updater System, providing automated updates to credit cards which have expired or have been replaced.• Assumed the role of Lead Engineer; increased system capabilities from 4M records per day to around 25M per day, successfully switching from a synchronous REST to asynchronous Kafka messaging. Key member of the PayPal SWAT Team, whose purpose was to offer additional senior development support to critical systems such as the mid-tier service for handling checkout flows.Co-developed the PayPal Identity System, providing authorization services for mobile applications and PayPal’s website with particular focus on the 2-Factor Authentication aspects. • Reduced the footprint of the Identity System by 2500 lines of code, thus decreasing the cost of development while increasing team productivity. X.COMMERCE (a PayPal, Inc subsidiary) | 2011-2014Principally led a team to build a new class of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). • Submitted a patent application for the ESB message routing logic, incorporating restrictions based on tenancy; significantly reduced traffic on the wire, provided privacy for the tenant. PAYPAL DATA SERVICES (a PayPal, Inc subsidiary) | 2007-2011Led a team of talented developers, producing a SOA platform in Java, which provided the infrastructure to facilitate the PayPal Adaptive Payments and subsequent services.• Designed a contemporary software platform with critical components while integrating existing legacy systems; effectively utilized current security, deployment, configuration, and structures. • Worked cross functionally with executive management to demonstrate the sustainability and progressive capability of the Java platform.

Directed a team to renew vital efforts while working on the Verified by Visa product, including the addition of smart card payment capability. • Developed a Java-based server, using JSP, Servlets, and JCE; assumed dual Lead Developer and Designer role for Visa’s 1099 Tax Reporting solution and Commercial Card customers. • Played a key role in the design and development of an Enterprise-Wide Authorization and Authentication solution; co-managed Visa consolidation process for external services.

Played a vital role while working on the RISC Systems 6000 Division, AIX Kernel Service and Support, the development of AIX: archival utilities, commands for process control, system status, and text editing. • Created and implemented conformance for XPG/4 and POSIX.2 standards. • Leveraged the integration of Korean and Chinese language support into AIX; taught classes on system crash analysis/kernel debugging in Toronto and Sao Paulo to IBM support organizations.
