CurrentAs a Research Fitter within the Materials & Processes Department in the Northern Ireland Advanced Composites & Engineering Centre (NIACE) which is a facility of Spirit AeroSystems, as well as many other companies with both Queens University and The University of Ulster my job duties entail many things such as: Research and Development into the different materials and processes used within Bombardier Aerospace in order to help production or gain results concerning new development programmes… Show more As a Research Fitter within the Materials & Processes Department in the Northern Ireland Advanced Composites & Engineering Centre (NIACE) which is a facility of Spirit AeroSystems, as well as many other companies with both Queens University and The University of Ulster my job duties entail many things such as: Research and Development into the different materials and processes used within Bombardier Aerospace in order to help production or gain results concerning new development programmes. Assistance within a squad in the Development, Manufacturing Processes, New Technologies, Test Parts and the Certification stages of certain areas of the C-Series Programme both for the CS100 and CS300 narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range jet airliners. Also contributed and worked on certain areas within a squad who have been involved in the development of Nacelles for the Irkut MC-21 Program to which is a twin-engine short-range and mid-range of Russian jet airliner. Within the workshop environment my duties also include Teamwork, Using my own initiative, working on my own, dealing & liasing with other fitters, engineers, universities and other companies over various projects, Fabrication, Machining, Material Processes, Use of Composite Materials, Aircraft Systems & Structures, Chemical Mechanical Polishing, Micro Specimen Preparation, Robotic Cell, Clean Room Preparation, Performing, Autoclave work, Manufacture using Resin Transfer Infusion (RTI), Manufacture using Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM), & use of the Forklift and Crane. As I am a employee of Bombardier Aerospace we are strict and have to a hear to all Health & Safety Regulations and also have to be on top of our PPE for ever task that we undertake as part of our job. I also do my part by checking the forklift is in working order every morning of the week and report any faults or concerns to my lead hand and manager in order to address these, as well as a monthly check on all first aid box stock and in date.
