Our mission at 4pi Lab is to protect the world’s most precious assets – it’s people, forests and oceans. To that end, we are proposing a paradigm shift in the way that wildfires are detected, evaluated and remediated. Our satellite-based solution will be able to detect very small wildfires (2m in ideal conditions) in real-time across the globe, monitoring their progression at less than 30-minute revisit intervals and providing AI-informed alerts to first responder agencies. We believe we will be able to eradicate the majority of catastrophic wildfire events and positively impact billions of people as well as help curb the effects of climate change for our children and future generations.

The position is responsible for conceiving, developing and, in some cases, marketing extremely high-performance, patented hyperspectral, multispectral and broadband Earth observation and mapping systems. These systems span most of the optical spectrum (from the UV through to the LWIR) and address commercial, environmental and military applications. Also, the position is responsible for the development of robust, mathematically efficient hyperspectral and broadband imaging processing algorithms that generate reliable and traceable products --- on which critical business/management decisions can be based. Finally, the position is responsible for helping to find solutions to seemingly-impossible technical and scientific challenges.
