Established and led a lab safety committee to conduct thorough safety walk-throughs, proactively identifying potential safety concerns across the department. Collaborated with principal investigators to develop and implement comprehensive safety protocols and corrective action plans. Provided training for students to enhance their ability to identify and address safety issues effectively. Coordinated with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to remove two decades of accumulated waste from the Department of Chemistry.

Acquired experience in both designing, optimizing, and conducting organic and inorganic synthesis. Utilized and interpreted characterizing data such as nuclear magnetic resonance (1D and 2D), mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, absorption and fluorescent spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and X-ray crystallography. Conducted cross-disciplinary collaboration with biologists, biochemists, and chemists to advance research goals. Lab responsibilities included maintaining an organized chemical inventory, implementing ways to reduce lab spending, instrument maintenance, and managing lab waste. Evaluated and mentored new undergraduate and graduate students, customizing training programs to suit their unique backgrounds and skill levels.

Taught the lab for organic chemistry 1 and 2. Special emphasis was given to safety, critical thinking and scientific writing. Student evaluations all indicated they learned more than other labs they had taken due to the attention I gave to their lab reports and to their actions in lab. Worked with students individually to ensure that they all understood in a way that made sense to them.

Served as the Mental Health and Inclusion Officer for the Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Student Council, guiding students to appropriate departmental and support services during times of need or distress. Developed a foundational understanding of university and state laws, as well as protective services, to safeguard vulnerable students against retaliation and harassment.

Served as an Interim NMR Manager, responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of a Bruker and JEOL NMR instrument, including filling liquid nitrogen/helium, performing weekly shimming, and invoicing. Trained over 100 students from multiple disciplines guiding them in running and interpreting experiments to support their projects. Additionally, collaborated with two local chemical companies, generating more revenue for the department by facilitating the use of our instruments.

Operated, maintained, and repaired a Rigaku XRD Mini, providing training for new users. Utilized CrysAlisPro and Olex2 software for structural analysis, with five published structures currently deposited in the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC).

Taught and graded General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 laboratories. Focused on lab awareness and scientific communication, while developing proper safety training and critical thinking skills.

Enhanced the synthesis of novel flavonols by conducting extensive literature reviews of similar molecular types, critically analyzing and testing numerous scientific sources to develop and refine effective synthetic methodologies.

Conducted aseptic cell culture of mink endothelial uterine cells to evaluate the expression of specific proteins using PCR under varying concentrations of estrogen and progesterone.Performed gene insertion into a plasmid and cultured E. coli to amplify plasmid production. Subsequently transferred the plasmid into a different E. coli strain for protein expression, followed by protein assessment using Western Blot analysis.

Held multiple positions including grocery manager, inventory control specialist, and three years of overnight experience. Managed a team of over 75 employees, overseeing hiring, training, daily management, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Developed marketing strategies with vendors for different products based on seasonal trends and the needs of the local community. Integral to implementing a transition from manual to digital inventory systems, improving organization and tracking of grocery product inventory and sales.
