I am an experienced Reliability Engineer working the last 17 years providing multiple Condition Based Maintenance techniques across various industries.I started my journey in Mechanical Engineering as an apprentice in 1997 in Gear transmission at Sumitomo Drive Technologies, assembling and repairing industrial gearboxes and gear-motors. I then moved into the technical sales department where I worked with our clients selecting gearboxes and quoting based on their application needs. I also helped control stock.From there, I changed career path and joined Drive Management Services, looking at the Preventive Maintenance of rotary equipment. Here I learnt many aspects of Condition Monitoring beginning with Ultrasonic testing, then progressing to Vibration Analysis. I gained my first certification (BINDT Cat 1) then quickly progressed to Cat 2. When learning this role, I also gained vital experience working with clients and their assets in the field, and quickly learned the various safety and environmental demands across multiple industries. More importantly I learnt how to manage expectations and the importance in guiding the client through their maintenance journey.Once competent in Vibration Analysis, I then continued my growth with various other CBM disciplines including Cat 1 in Infrared Thermal Imaging, Level 1 in Ultrasound and Cat 1 Lubrication Analyst with the ICML. Whilst gaining this experience I was then given the opportunity to mentor other engineers on their CBM journey when promoted to Service Engineering Manager. In this role I manage, train and organise several CBM engineers on a daily basis. I also have a key role in the technical sales and decision making within the business.Whilst in this management role, I also progressed with my own development within CBM. I went on and completed the VA Cat 3 certification. I also completed the ILM Level 3 management course which offered great insight in my role as a manager.Recently with the development and rise of Motion Amplification, I have completed the Level 1 Analyst course offered by RDI Technologies, a key organisation in this new and exciting discipline.
