I was born in North London but my parents moved away from England when I was 9 and I ended up growing up in the very different environment of semi tropical Hong Kong. The exotic look and sounds of nature in a hot climate became normal to me at an early age and I found it a magical contrast to my London upbringing. Having breakfast watching white cockatoos playing amongst the jungle in-fill between the buildings was an everyday experience. I bought my house in Carvoeiro in the late 1990’s and I am now lucky enough to spend most of my time working and gardening on the sunny Algarve. When arriving home in Portugal after a trip abroad, I find the people, nature and wild landscape here invigorates me and my work here reflects the love I feel for this special place.
