I was working here as a casual labourer, where I assisted in the deconstruction of offices , maintain a clean working environment, offloaded building supplies and equipment onto site, assisted in construction work.

Overseeing the smooth operation of a small, busy import team.Dealing in imports both by Air and Sea, carrying out all operational import procedures.It is here that I have gained a good working knowledge of processing import shipments via Ocean freight which previously I did not have, both FCL and LCL shipments.Learnt any new computer systems needed to carry out the Ocean Freight import operations, these are MCP ( Destin 8 ) and CNS. They are Import / Export industry software operating systems.Attended ASM courses on the introduction of the new Customs SAD H import procedures, then ensure that the Import Department were correctly instructed as to these procedures.Passing suppliers invoices and also ensure all client invoices are raised in a timely manner.

Initially started as a junior clerk, (with a company named Albany Freight, which then due to numerous takeovers became Wilson Logistics) during which time was promoted to Senior Clerk. This entailed developing knowledge in all aspects of Commercial Shipping.Responsible for ensuring the fast and efficient processing of shipments for client’s through Customs and onto its final destination.Managing delivery requirements, progress chasing.I was assigned to Oasis Retail Stores ( a major account) on short term initially, and then at regular intervals. Responsible for their Shipping Department in the Distribution Centre.Managed a Customs Bonded Warehouse for a period of 3 years. This involved communicating with HMRC, Keeping highly accurate records regarding stock and the payment of Duty and VAT on goods stored at the facilityI spent three months at the Wilsons Los Angeles office, learning procedures in ‘Import Break bulk’ and Export procedures.Operational Account Manager for Rank Xerox, providing a flexible 24hr service, responding to emergency shipments.

I started my Import career with a small Freight Forwarder ( Albany Freight Ltd ) which over the years went through several takeovers ending up as Wilson logistics which was when I left their employment, since then they have gone on to become Geodis Wilsons

Undertook and completed an apprenticeship for maintenance and service of motor vehicles.Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.Providing a customer-facing role at the reception desk, dealing with service requirements and parts ordering.Attending Ford Training courses at their Daventry facility, acquiring and updating skills on new models.
