Lead engineer on the Orchestra GraphQL service and Android app team (Customer Experience Engineering), with subject matter expertise in Mobile Ordering, Store Locator, and Payments. Responsibilities include team representation in product planning, architecture discussion, and incident response; cross-functional collaboration with external teams; and leadership within the team as both a peer and a mentor.Key accomplishments:(Android, 06/2015 - 03/2022)- Refactored app product catalog database, reducing app binary by 50M.- Contributed to app architecture improvements and modernization, including the adoption of the VIPER pattern, Kotlin-first code, enhanced unit and integration test coverage, observability best practices, on-call rotations.- Led development of UX enhancements to mobile order experience (menu, order history, pricing and checkout, multi tier reward redemption), increasing customer engagement and conversion.- Led development and launch of Stars for Everyone program, involving cross-functional collaboration with backend teams to integrate with a new GraphQL service layer and significant UX enhancements. This expanded in-app channels beyond Starbucks gift cards to include debit/credit cards, PayPal, and others.- Led development and launch of the redesigned product detail and customization UI. This effort included significant refactoring of legacy code, iterated test coverage on multiple units, and espresso automation coverage of numerous flows and edge cases, resulting in a highly stable release with no critical bugs at launch.(Orchestra, 04/2022 - present)- Led planning, schema design, and development of multiple simultaneous projects, including: CCPA compliance, complex migration of existing services to new backend APIs, in-app tipping at order checkout.- Presented a Learning Lab talk, “Thinking in Graphs,” giving a motivation and introduction to graph data structures and the differences between traditional REST APIs and GraphQL.

App Dev I on the Starbucks Android team

Developed several android tablet apps for use in research studies on cognitive load and multi sensory distraction in simulated driving environments.

Developed analysis algorithms in IDL to calculate wind evolution in the lower thermosphere using radar data from non-specular meteor echoes. Wrote GUI’s to manually review raw data and dynamically optimize and refine result database. Second author, "Intense Winds and Shears in the Equatorial Lower Thermosphere Measured by High Resolution Non-Specular Meteor Radar", which has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres. Trained new undergraduate research assistants to use IDL and existing analysis libraries
