• My role within the organisation is to machine large high value components adhering to strict tolerances, minimum tolerance of .0005”. This involves accurately setting products up to 15 tonnes in weight, which have to be loaded to machinery safely through the operation of an overhead crane.• Project managed two multi million pound machine tool installs, including foundations, determining machine specifications and also the building and commissioning.• Working on new products developing methods and tooling to achieve repeatability of quality reducing time and cost. I also work on bespoke products and am involved in reworking non-conformances to meet customer demands.• During the 35 years I have served with the company I have worked on CNC lathes,horizontal and vertical borers,completed many courses and continuous improvement techniques, these include kaizan events and crane training. These were essential to keep up to date with the latest procedures to maintain high standards in my role. • Two years secondment as a 6S co-ordinator on the shop floor for over 300 employees• Safety is paramount in the industry as components are highly detailed and work under high pressures. This is achievable by working systematic as a team and am able to approach someone if they are doing something that puts themselves and others at risk.• Working with a variety of metals and exotic materials including Inconel, Stainless Steel, Duplex and alloy steels.
