I am currently working as a Senior Structural Steel Estimator at Orizon a Spitzer Company located in Brookshire, Texas. Orizon is an AISC certified Fabrication Facility primarily on Large Industrial Projects.One I am assigned a project to Quote I handle everything necessary to write the Proposal that's sent to the client. I coordinate with and send out RFQ to our suppliers, I do a detailed Material Takeoff using Bluebeam and E.J.E Material Manager software. I determine the cost of materials, and the Shop Labor to determine the Cost to Fabricate the Project. In the Proposal I specify everything that will be Included, Excluded, and Clarify how I came up with the cost of that Project. I coordinate with sales, Project Management, and Management as required. I often write Change Orders when there is significant change to the Project. When a client wants clarification to the Proposal, I handle that. My background in Structural Steel Detailing and Checking is a great advantage when I am task to estimate a Project when the drawings are incomplete, or there is a basic sketch with just a basic layout.

We have access to the in-house model, we can bring it into SDS/2. We have a great advantage over the traditional detailers we do not have to draw the erection plans, elevations or sections they are already drawn. The detailing package is integrated into the design drawings it is seamless we do not miss anything, and our detailing package is then checked by the engineers and or designers who designed the structure. We give our customer a comprehensive set of drawings to send out for BIDS. This take the guess work out of the Structural Steel Estimate. The Fabricator can give our client a Bid Based on Real information not an Educated Guess. We can shorten the Schedule by months. If there are any revisions, they are handled during the time the engineer is making those revisions. We provide High Quality Detailing on a schedule no one else can match. Detailing Manager (SDS/2 Site) – Fabrication of Two (2) Nuclear Power Plant Projects VOGTLE 2 & SUMMER 3.While I was employed by The Shaw Group Two (2) AP 1000 Modular Nuclear Power Plants VOGTLE 3 and SUMMER 2 was being fabricated. This was the first modular fabrication of a Nuclear Power Plant in the USA. The detailing department was new and at a state of the art fabricating facility. We followed NQA-1 Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications. All detailing was to AISC, NISD, and Shaw Standards. We used the latest technology associated with steel fabrication All detailing was modeled using SDS/2 Detailing Software we used CNC downloads with NC1 and XSR files we extensively used gather sheets for sub material and scribing to locate the material. As the Detailing Manager at Shaw Modular Solutions LLC. I wrote and issued all RFQ’s associated with vendor supplied drawings. I managed the outside detailers, as well as the in house detailers and checkers. I attended all production, scheduling, vendor progress, and constructability meetings. I was responsible for writing and clearing all CAR’s issued by or to the detailing department. I was responsible for writing and maintaining the Quality Procedures for the Vendor Supplied Drawings as well as the Shaw Generated drawings. I wrote the detailing and checking procedures, the detailing and checking Standards, and the Engineering Review Procedures for Vendor supplied drawings. Shaw acted as the Review Authority for all fabrication drawing. I reviewed all E&DCR’s and revisions to all contract documents associated with the detailing department. I wrote, tracked and managed RFI’s. I maintained the Schedule for IFA submittals and IFF releases.
