Prior to joining GMP in 1990 I was a LGV driver for 15 years starting off on 7.5t trucks and passing my class 3 (as it was then) gaining experience on Wagon and Drags for a multi national Parcel company.I left Driving in late 1989 joining GMP in 1990 then going onto pass a Response driver in 1992 during this time I joined and took my IAM test with my local group and remained with them. In 1995 I past my Police class 1 Advanced and went onto traffic, where I am at present.In 1999 I took and passed my class 1 LGV licence and gained experience in this class from 1999 to 2004 in a number of Agency driving roles.I then took up a position of Advanced Tutor with Ride Drive delivering on road Advanced driving skills, then in 2009, I was asked to become an Examiner for the now road safety organisation called IAM Roadsmart after being with my local group as a Senior Observer for over 20 years. I have always had a passion for driving and helping people to develop their driving skills.Currently I have an up to date LGV 1 licence and regularly drive keeping myself up to date with the modern day vehicles which are now mainly automatics .In late 2013 I became an Examiner for the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA)until 2017.In 2016 I underwent 8 weeks training to become a Police driving instructor.In December 2017 I have taken and successfully completed a Tactical Pursuit and Containment course. Allowing me to carry out my everyday role as a roads policing officer.February 2019, I have successfully taken and passed my IMI qualification in Examining for IAM Roadsmart. This qualifies me to a standard set down by the IMI examination board.May 2019, Just qualified after completing a 5 day course in the Carriage of Dangerous Goods. Will become an authorised Carriage in Dangerous Goods Inspector on behalf of the HSE .June2019 , just completed and qualified in Level 3 Certificate of Education in Training.December 2020, re qualified in TPAC qualification for a further 3 yrs.August 2021 - November 2021, took a further 11 week course in National Police car instructors course set by the college of policing and qualified and now working at the driver training unit.August 2022,qualified as an Advanced Instructor and Assessor of students taking formative and summative driving qualifications.Jan24 to Feb 24 completed a three week Teaching in Education ProgrammeJune 2023, qualified as a TPAC instructor.
