After university, Stephen commenced a career with CSR Ltd. He worked at CSR's sugar refineries in Brisbane and Melbourne and the Sydney head office, gaining an excellent grounding in sales, marketing, logistics and business analysis. In 1989 Stephen leveraged this experience by joining the Queensland Department of Primary Industries as a Director on a number of the primary producer Statutory Marketing Boards then in existence. This began a public sector career which has already passed 25 years spanning such diverse areas as agricultural policy development and implementation, regional and rural economic development, restructure and service delivery, international education, trade and investment attraction. Stephen has held leadership and executive positions for almost all of his public sector career.His key skills are:LEADERSHIP: Effectively establishes, develops and inspires teams to follow strategic direction.
