These offices employed 55 staff.Stephen's Division assisted Queensland businesses to grow their exports and attract investment by setting market development strategies in key off shore markets and then leading implementation through a team of senior managers located in Brisbane and in the offices around the world.Recent achievements under Stephen's stewardship includes significantly exceeding agreed dollar targets for export opportunities generated for Queensland business in 2011/12 and 2012/13. For example, in 2011/12 these offices directly helped generate in excess of $1 billion in export sales for Queensland organisations. In early 2014, Stephen oversaw the establishment of Queensland's new trade and investment office in Houston Texas office on time and on budget. In 2013/14 Stephen successfully managed from Brisbane the in market recruitment and selection of Queensland trade commissioners based in Houston Texas, Santiago Chile, Abu Dhabi UAE and Jakarta Indonesia with remuneration packages within agreed limits and under local labour laws.In 2012 Stephen successfully led a trade mission of over 20 Queensland business representatives to Port Moresby and Lae in Papua New Guinea and in 2013 led a trade mission of 12 delegates to South Africa and Mozambique. He was also responsible for achieving agreed business targets for each office.Stephen successfully managed the 2005/06 and 2006/07 budget to achieve all targets and not overspend. Currency hedging during this period successfully reduced financial risk. Stephen managed the successful expansion of the TIQ network to include new office openings in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and Guangzhou (China) and recruited new trade commissioners based in Taipei, Abu Dhabi, Los Angeles, and Riyadh including all employment contract negotiations. Stephen also reformed work practices in the unit to address a serious staff fatigue and burn out issue. Unit turn-over reduced dramatically under his leadership and workload pressures were more evenly spread.
