Stephen Blight is Senior Advisor for Child Protection at UNICEF Headquarters, leading its global work on violence against children. Previous roles in UNICEF include Child Protection Advisor for UNICEF's East Asia and Pacific Regional Office, where he provided providing technical support and oversight of child protection programmes in thirteen country offices in the region. Stephen has also led UNICEF's child protection work in three major country programmes: Sudan, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Prior to his employment with UNICEF, he served as Country Representative/Director for CARE International, Oxfam GB and Save the Children UK. He has also provided expertise as a socio-economist for UN technical agencies and the private sector, specializing in rural development. He began his professional career with the United Nations Development Programme in Guinea. He has a Master’s degree in Human Geography from Carleton University, Ottawa.
