Stephen set up Design-Cubed with fellow Partner Mark Barnard in March 2011.Life before Design-Cubed was as Associate Directors at Dyer architects in London. Having successfully negotiated the highs & lows of commercial practice (as part of an outstanding team of people) they decided they wanted to move architectural practice forward, make it more personal and respond directly to the changing needs of clients…and so Design-Cubed was born. Stephen has experience across a wide range of sectors designing buildings with a people-focused, civic and social purpose. He is particularly skilled at developing both the brief and the design for large scale complex projects that have to satisfy multiple users and interest groups. As a student, he was nominated for the RIBA President’s Silver Medal Award for design excellence and achieved a double postgraduate degree with distinction in Architecture. Major projects Stephen has worked on include:Client liaison and key designer for our delivery of a £100M Campus for Queen Margaret University, EdinburghLead architect for mixed use Community Health Building & Key Worker Residential Units at Barking Town CentreLead architect for 23,000sqm new build campus for West Kent College, Tonbridge.Concept Design for 220,000sqm Retail Mall, Krasnodar, Southern Russia.Stephen frequently presents at events and seminars and has lectured on the subject of social learning at the Apple Store in London, he spoke as a ‘Super User’ on behalf of Autodesk in 2009 on a 12 day tour of South East Asia and Australia where he demonstrated how the innovative use of Autodesk software can provide a design edge.Stephen sits on the committee of the London Revit User Group (LRUG) and frequently presents at events and seminars.
