In a persons life as they grow from a toddler through teenage years and into adulthood, there will come a time when they must answer the question, "What do you want to be (or do) when you grow up"? As the son of a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper, it seems I was always being asked this question. In my youth, I speculated that this was because people wondered if what I saw in my father was something that I wanted to achieve for myself. My answer to that speculation is YES, although not necessarily to become a law enforcement officer. What I saw in my father was someone who was happy in life. He was someone who was excited to go to work every day. For a time I assumed that it was JUST police work that he loved, but I found that there was more to it than that. As I have matured I have discovered that the pursuit of something better can give us purpose, and having a purpose can be exciting.If you know that you gave it your best yesterday and the world is a better place because of that effort, it makes today exciting because you realize your potential. In my professional life, I have always tried to take advantage of every opportunity to increase my potential. From stepping in to a position as a vacation relief worker while working at Cream O' Weber Dairy, to attending community college diesel courses and entering the Apprenticeship Program at Utah Transit Authority where I graduated to a Journeyist Mechanic, and now becoming a Bus Maintenance Supervisor, I have always tried to do my best.I am a person that cares what people think about me. I want people to feel that I am trust worthy. I like to be the guy that gets things done. I like it when people feel comfortable around me.
