A qualified person was needed to shadow the current Controller who was retiring in order to continue the period end closing process and financial statement preparation while the President and multi company CFO conducted the recruiting process for a new Controller. Once hired, I then trained that person on the system that was set up by the previous Controller, to preform period end closing, financial statement preparation and cash management. This required a deep dive into many, many Excel spreadsheets and the links between them and how the information flowed into the General Ledger, and manufacturing ERP.

The current Controller was out on Medical leave and indicating an intent to retire, also the staff accountant gave notice and was resigning in 2 days, I was brought in to fill an urgent need. I recognized the day to day accounting AR and AP functions needed to be processed in a timely manner in order ensure the information entered the General Ledger was accurate , Once stabilized I managed other day to day accounting activities until the new Controller was hired.

After the Senior Accountant abruptly left I was brought to assist in relieving a large backlog in the high volume Accounts Payable Department. I reviewed, approved and followed up that Invoice payment process was completed properly, in addition to preparing other misc journal entry preparation until a permanent solution was in place.

Led the complete transition of Balax Inc. into a multi-national environment. Responsible for a smooth closing and transition into Sandvik Inc. asset purchase. Assumed additional Controller duties for South Beloit (NATC) in addition to Balax.

As CFO/Controller I report directly to the owners of Balax. My responsibilities intertwine into all areas of the organization with my main responsibilities focusing on financial reporting, information technology, and human resources. Currently I reviewed, selected, and implemented a new ERP (Infor) system throughout the organization. I am a hands on leader who works well with others to adapt our business to the demands required from changing technology.

Responsible for all financial reporting matters that where audited each year in a non manufacturing environment. In addition, to managing all employee benefits, facility improvements, I maintained a fleet of 60 automobiles. This included purchase, disposal and all service needs that resulted is a cost per mile that was dramatically less then other fleets. I was directly involved in three mergers and acquisitions which eventually lead to my decision to pursue the opportunity at Balax Inc.
