My role was responsible for maintaining healthy relationships with our ministry partners through regular dialogue, careful listening, timely feedback, and cross-cultural understanding.Established relationships with US churches and pastors to advocate and inform about the needs of our international partners. Encouraged churches to give toward specific ministry initiatives and support pastor training efforts.Collaborated with a US businessman to plan and build 3 sustainable farms across East Africa that relied on nutrient-rich fish water to fertilize vegetable plants. I implemented the following key project management steps to help make these projects successful:Requested engineering drawings to help explain the design and project scale to our African partners;Developed a project budget (approximately $2,500 per fish pond) and began working with local contacts to source the necessary labor and supplies;Recruited a team of skilled volunteers to travel and assist with project construction. Members of this team would also stay behind to provide critical training regarding the ongoing operation of the system;After the initial stages of troubleshooting, I wrote documents to be signed by all parties that formalized handover of the project and explained responsibilities moving forward. Made multiple trips to visit our ministry partners and served as team leader on several occasions. My strengths as a team leader are observed in the following ways:Preparation - Instructing team members how to prepare for the trip and explaining some of the cross-cultural challenges they will face;Daily Debrief - Directing team members to consider the highs and lows of each day and helping them process through difficult images of poverty and trauma;Context - Conducting post trip follow up and helping team members see how their contribution fits into the larger picture of ministry partnership.

I initiated contact with 3rd party vendors to clearly communicate expectations, the project timeline, and potential challenges to be prepared for;In 2010, I identified the problem of sending excessive amounts of recyclable cardboard to the landfill. My team corrected the problem by installing a baler that increased recycling by 50% and diverted cardboard from the landfill.
