Stephen Brobst is the Chief Technology Officer for Ab Initio Software and is also Managing Partner at Sampo Technologies & Systems. He is a board member and advises startups as well as universities in the domains of artificial intelligence and advanced data management. His specialization is in the design and construction of data management and AI/ML solutions for Fortune 500 companies in the United States and internationally. Stephen performed his graduate work in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where his Masters and PhD research focused on high-performance parallel processing. He also completed an MBA with joint course and thesis work at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Stephen has dozens of patents and 100+ publications (books and articles) related to machine learning and advanced data management techniques. Stephen has been on the faculty of The Data Warehousing Institute since 1996 and teaches courses related to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Agile Analytics, Real-Time Analytics, High Performance Data Warehouse Design, Future Trends in Analytics, Data Visualization, Capacity Planning, Big Data Exploitation, and Enterprise Information Management. He has been appointed to Barack Obama's Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) in the working group on Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) where he worked on development of the Big Data strategy for the US government.
