About Stephen Brooks

I have worked in the transportation industry since 1995, in both Automotive and Rollingstock Engineering, and have completed Post Graduate Certificates in both disciplines.During the past 8 years I have been involved in development and design of engineered solutions in the rail manufacturing sector. This has involved the use of engineering techniques including 3D & 2D concept and detailing, testing and validation of design and working with suppliers to deliver a design suitable for all stake holders. During my career I have worked on overseas assignments in Northern Europe (Scandinavia), Great Britain and recently in India. My career objective is to make a value adding contribution to engineering products using innovation, engineering principles, experience, logic and CAD tools, which accelerate speed of product to market. I get satisfaction working with mock-ups and low volume production, due to the requirement for innovation and economics but also recognise I have skill sets and experience for higher volume production design.I wish to be involved in design that improves the end users experience within timing and budget limitations.Previous study and job roles have given me skill sets to create innovative engineered solutions for body structure, interior and exterior systems to meet regulatory and other standards, aesthetic and customer requirements that are designed for cost, manufacture, maintenance and fit for purpose.Recent roles have enhanced design management skills and exposure to project management. It appears that a natural progression will be to use the skills obtained and take a bigger view of projects and guide others in the accomplishment of innovative designed products.
