About Stephen Bruner

For much of my life, I have had a passion for affecting change with individuals and communities. I have worked in agencies that serve at-risk youth, low-income seniors, and the homeless. I have held positions in the National Association of Social Workers to advocate for those who are disabled and low-income, or face other barriers to living full productive lives. My experience ranges from meeting with congressmen at the state and national level to homeless outreach and managing residential programs. Since I earned my MSW in 2006, I have strived to develop my skills in psychotherapy and in 2010 received an LSCW from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. My current focus is linking homeless veterans with residential programs that provide social, psychological, and medical resources. I have made a commitment to the VA's plan to end homelessness among veterans. In the long run, my goals include playing a more creative role in social service design and delivery. Someday I may even like to start my own business or partner with like-minded professionals. I hope together we can make a positive impact!Specialties: - Experienced in working with inter-agency contracts and budgets.- Effective in assessing and counseling individuals and groups- Sensitive and skilled when working with diverse populations- Experienced in practicing from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective- Comfortable with crisis assessment and intervention
